The Ladies European Tour will make an historic first visit to Slovakia.
Gray Bear Golf Club, the first championship golf course in the country, will host the inaugural Ladies Slovak Open from 27-30th May , promoted by Stephen Flanagan and his Quirit SK promotions and marketing.

“With a 2010 schedule already featuring the inaugural New Zealand Women’s Golf Open and Princess Lalla Meryem Cup, it is with great pleasure that we are able to offer our members the opportunity to compete in another exciting new tournament,” said Alexandra Armas, Executive Director of the Ladies European Tour.

“The prestige of hosting a Ladies European Tour event continues to generate huge interest as is being shown as we announce more tournaments in new and exciting destinations.”

Right at the heart of Europe, the golf club is located within the Tále ski, golf and hotel resort, which sits within an enchanting mountain valley. Designed by Americans Bob Walton and Skip Malek, the golf course opened in 2002 and is evocative of veteran Scottish golf courses.

Zuzana Kamasova, the LET’s sole Slovak representative, is proud to be attached to the golf course and competing at the tournament. “I am super excited that Slovakia will host a LET tournament especially at my home golf course Gray Bear, which my golf coach has co designed,” she said.

“I have always dreamed of being able to play in a pro tournament on home soil, so for me, it is a dream come true! I know that the girls will enjoy it, because the course is challenging but fair set in beautiful scenery of the National Park of Low Tatras surrounded by mountains. I am very happy about this new edition to LET schedule and I hope the tournament will attract the best European lady golfers!”

The Ladies Slovak Open will see 126 players compete over four rounds of stroke play for a purse of €350,000, with a first prize of €52,500.

Stephen John Flanagan, CEO of the promoter's agency Quirit SK, believes that the announcement is the most important step for the development of women’s golf in the country. “We have witnessed huge progress in women's golf in Slovakia over the past three to four years. I am sure that the tournament will have a positive impact on the golf resort and on the Central European region as well. It's an exclusive opportunity for all of us,” he said.
